Since 1946, our past history proves our dedication to the highest quality service that has earned us the reputation we enjoy today. Lyk – Nu Paint & Bodyshop was founded by J. D. Phelps, Sr. in 1946. He saw a need in Nashville, TN to provide the highest quality body repair shop possible. This challenge was accepted and founded Lyk – Nu Paint & Bodyshop about 1 ½ miles North of our existing location.

In 1948, Mr. Phelps built the existing building to expand his growing operation. Several additions were constructed to achieve the present 12,000 square foot facility we have today. As his business grew, he employed his two sons, J.D. and Jack Phelps. They eventually took over the business after their father past away and J.D. Jr. worked here for 44 years.

On April 7, 1995, J.D. and Jack retired and sold the business to Paul Slate, of Hendersonville, TN, and the name changed to Lyk – Nu Collision Center, Inc. The Phelps Brothers were very concerned that Lyk – Nu stayed in the family mode that they had established. So, they worked with Paul, his wife, Teresa, and their two sons, Daniel and David for four months to insure the legacy lived on. Even today, the Phelps brothers still stop in from time to time to visit and even have their own autos repaired. We feel very fortunate to have this legacy and we work hard to maintain it.
